Available Apprenticeship Trades
Xivono Mining is offering five (5) apprenticeship opportunities in the following high-demand engineering trades:
- Electrician
- Millwrights
- Fitters
- Instrumentation
- Boilermaker
Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this apprenticeship, applicants must meet the following minimum criteria:
- A minimum qualification of N2/Matric with Mathematics and Science and two relevant Trade-related subjects (achieving at least 50% in each subject); OR
- NCV Level 4 with 7 subjects (which must include Mathematics and Science) with a minimum of 50% per subject.
- Must be medically fit to work in a mining environment.
- Possess a practical and logical mindset with a genuine interest in equipment maintenance.
Key Responsibilities & What You’ll Learn
As a successful apprentice, you will be entrusted with real-world responsibilities that form the core of a engineering trade, including:
- Attending to mechanical, instrumentation, and electrical breakdowns.
- Conducting regular inspections and preventative maintenance on plant equipment.
- Fault-finding and troubleshooting on complex systems like DCS, PLCs, and AC/DC drives.
- Performing corrective maintenance in strict adherence to plant safety regulations.
- Analyzing the root causes of breakdowns and implementing effective solutions.
- Ensuring all work complies with quality, safety, and environmental standards.
- Reading, interpreting, and understanding electrical and mechanical drawings.
- Assisting in basic rigging and stage crew operations.
