Remuneration Package

This permanent position offers an attractive annual salary between R382,047 and R433,176, making it a financially rewarding career move for the right candidate.

Who Should Apply? The Key Requirements

To be considered for this pivotal role, you must meet the following requirements:

  • An appropriate Trade Test Certificate.
  • A minimum of 5 years of post-qualification experience as an Artisan.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • Technical Skills: Experience in telephone network installation, maintenance, and repairs of lines and instruments is a significant advantage. You must be proficient in using power tools and technical instruments.
  • Knowledge & Abilities: A sound understanding of Main Distribution Frames, cable jointing, digital (e.g., VoIP) and analogue telephone systems, Health and Safety regulations, and legal compliance.
  • Supervisory & Soft Skills: Proven ability to supervise staff, compile technical reports, and demonstrate strong management, planning, organisation, and communication skills.

Your Role and Responsibilities

As the Telephone Network Artisan, your duties will be diverse and essential to the base’s operations:

  • Execute and monitor voice technical service provision operations and support services for the SAN ICT telephone network.
  • Provide telephone network cable reticulation services, instrument technical services, and fixed-line connectivity for both local and foreign vessels.
  • Act as the distribution account holder for the technical section.
  • Maintain accurate cable records and control the job card system.
  • Order and manage stores, and supervise the work of contractors.
  • Communicate effectively with various stakeholders and perform ad-hoc tasks as required.
