Prestigious Technical Artisan Foreman Opportunity at Naval Base Simon’s Town
Are you an experienced artisan with strong leadership and technical design skills? The South African Navy’s Fleet Command is seeking a highly skilled and qualified Technical Artisan Foreman to join their Facilities Division in the historic Naval Base Simon’s Town. This is a critical role that combines hands-on technical expertise with project management and team leadership responsibilities.

Salary: R480 261 – R547 635 per annum

Key Requirements for the Role
To be considered for this senior position, candidates must meet the following non-negotiable requirements:
- An appropriate Trade Test Certificate (Mechanical, Constructive, or Electrical).
- A minimum of 10 years of post-qualification experience as an Artisan or Artisan Foreman.
- A valid driver’s license.
Essential Skills and Knowledge
The ideal candidate will possess a advanced and diverse skill set, including:
- Detailing of design drawings and excellent ability with detail design.
- Writing Specifications and Statements of Works.
- Strong technical report writing and repair investigation skills.
- Good knowledge of computer-aided design (CAD).
- Project Management experience and technical design/analysis knowledge.
- Knowledge of legal compliance within a technical environment.
- Proficiency in MS Office packages, particularly Excel.
- Proven advanced ability to communicate effectively in English (written & verbal).
- Advanced analytical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Leadership, supervision, financial management, and strong interpersonal skills.
Key Responsibilities (Duties)
The successful applicant will be responsible for:
- Surveying sites to inform design and project plans.
- Preparation and management of working drawings.
- Updating “As Built” drawings to reflect completed work accurately.
- Undertaking general Drawing Office duties.
- Acting as a Team Leader for the Drawing Office team.
