About the Learnership
This learnership is more than just a course; it’s a pathway to a formal trade qualification. Open exclusively to individuals residing in South Deep’s host communities, the programme offers a blend of technical training, practical work experience, and essential short courses required for full artisan development in the electrical trade.
Who Can Apply? Host Community Eligibility
Applicants must reside in one of the following designated host communities:
- Bekkersdal
- Zuurberkom
- Thusanang
- Hillshaven
- Westonaria
- Poortjie
- Simunye
- Kalbasfontein
- Jachtfontein
Additionally, you must have passed all 4 N3 trade-specific subjects as mandated by the MQA and South Deep Gold Mine.
Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this learnership, you must meet the following criteria:
- A Grade 12 certificate with Mathematics and Physical Science.
- A full N3 qualification with the following four subjects:
- Engineering Mathematics
- Engineering Science
- Electrical Trade Theory
- Industrial Electronics
- Must be medically fit for the mine environment and be able to pass a Heat Tolerance Screening test at the Gold Fields Occupational Health Centre.
- Important: You must attach all relevant certified certificates (Grade 12, N3) with your application CV.
