Who Should Apply? The Requirements

This is a senior role requiring a specific set of qualifications, registrations, and experience.

  • Education & Registration: An undergraduate Bachelor’s Degree (NQF Level 6) in Social Work, Psychology, or Occupational Health and Safety. Non-negotiable registration with the South African Council for Social Service Professions (SACSSP) or the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) is required.
  • Experience: A total of five (5) years’ experience is essential. This must include:
    • Two (2) years at a Middle Management level (ASD level).
    • Three (3) years of functional experience specifically in Employee Health and Wellness.
  • Driver’s License: A valid driver’s license is mandatory.
  • Knowledge: You must be well-versed in relevant HIV and AIDS legislation, the National Strategic Plan, the Integrated Employee Health & Wellness Framework, EHWP Policies, and public service principles like Batho Pele.
  • Skills: The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication, counselling, negotiation, decision-making, organisational, and problem-solving skills, alongside computer literacy.

Your Key Responsibilities: The Duties

As the successful candidate, you will be entrusted with the following critical functions:

  • Lead the implementation and promotion of comprehensive Employee Health and Wellness programmes and interventions.
  • Manage and execute the department’s Employee Health and Wellness Strategic Framework and the Gender Equality Strategic Framework.
  • Oversee and implement matters related to Gender, Disability, and Youth within the department.
  • Develop and implement policies and guidelines to promote EHW and provide detailed reports.
  • Manage all resources within the Sub-Directorate, including human and financial assets.
