About the Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for the meticulous maintenance, repair, and testing of high-pressure air equipment and life support systems. This role is vital for ensuring the safety and operational readiness of naval equipment, requiring a high degree of precision, adherence to strict SANS documentation, and a strong commitment to legal and safety compliance.
Key Requirements
To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- An appropriate Trade Test Certificate.
- A minimum of 5 years of post-qualification experience as an Artisan.
- A valid driver’s license.
- Proven ability to read and understand technical drawings.
- Excellent communication skills in English (both written and verbal).
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office and computer-aided technical applications.
- Supervision, management, and teamwork skills.
- Knowledge of the OHS Act, conflict management, and legal compliance.
- Ability to write technical reports and demonstrate planning, organizing, and problem-solving skills.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain cylinders according to maintenance schedules and relevant SANS documentation.
- Service High-Pressure air equipment and life support systems.
- Repair all defective equipment and systems.
- Test all life support equipment and air storage vessels, recording specifications on cylinder inspection reports (C.I.R.).
- Ensure all HP equipment policies and procedures are strictly followed as per SANS documentation.
- Charge all air and CO2 cylinders.
- Pre-deliver all life support equipment.
