About the Role

The Department of Labour is seeking a highly skilled and creative Graphic Design and Media Production Specialist to join their Head Office team in Pretoria. This is a fantastic opportunity for a design professional to apply their talents within the public service, contributing to the department’s communication and branding efforts.

Requirements

To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • An undergraduate qualification (NQF Level 6) as recognized by SAQA in one of the following fields:
    • Media Production
    • Graphic Design
    • Media Studies
    • Multimedia
    • Brand Design Communication
    • Web Development
  • A valid driver’s licence will be a distinct advantage.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of functional experience in graphic design and media production.

Essential Knowledge & Skills:

Knowledge: Specific knowledge of the Apple Mac Platform and its software packages (Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, QuarkXPress), the PC platform and Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Knowledge of photography, photographic equipment, printing processes, and public service regulations is also required.

Skills: The ideal candidate will possess excellent design and layout skills, strategic conceptualization abilities, and be adaptive to change. Key competencies include:

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Conduct and use systems to ensure efficient and effective production of publicity material.
  • Design and layout all publicity material for the Department.
  • Coordinate the quotations process for publications.
  • Prepare artwork for Social Media platforms.
  • Prepare final artwork for printing.
  • Execute photography for in-house Departmental events.
