Key Requirements
To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- A National Diploma in Engineering or a relevant qualification.
- A minimum of 3 years of post-qualification technical experience.
- A valid driver’s license and own transport are required.
- Must be willing and able to work in an underground facility with mechanical air and lighting.
- Must be available to perform shift work and overtime, including days, nights, and weekends.
- Current compulsory registration with ECSA as a Professional Engineering Technician is a statutory requirement.
Desired Skills and Knowledge:
- Exposure to High Power Transmitters / RF is a significant advantage.
- Proven ability to fault-find to electronic component level and effect repairs.
- Knowledge of Thermionic Emission principles.
- Proficiency in using electronic test equipment and interpreting technical drawings.
- Strong computer skills, including MS Office and computer-aided engineering applications.
- Excellent communication skills in English (both written and verbal).
- Knowledge of the OHS Act and legal compliance.
- Supervisory, time management, and project planning skills.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Maintaining and repairing High Power communications equipment and their peripherals.
- Ensuring the quality of Radio Frequency (RF) transmissions.
- Supervising the work of subordinates.
- Implementing corrective action on essential equipment, including diesel generators, power distribution systems, and air cooling systems.
- Performing necessary administrative and related functions.
