Key Requirements
To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- A National Diploma in Engineering or a relevant qualification.
- A minimum of 3 years of post-qualification technical experience.
- A valid driver’s license and own transport are required.
- Current Compulsory Registration with ECSA as a Professional Engineering Technician is a statutory requirement.
Essential Skills and Attributes:
- Ability to work in an underground location with mechanical air and lighting.
- Willingness to work overtime, including nights and weekends.
- Ability to fault-find to component level and effect repairs.
- Strong leadership, supervision, and management skills.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively in English (written and verbal).
- Proficiency in MS Office packages and ability to write technical reports.
- Knowledge of legal compliance, financial management, and research and development.
- Exposure to High Power Transmitters / RF is a distinct advantage.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be entrusted with the following duties:
- Maintain and repair all communications equipment.
- Supervise and train technical personnel.
- Assist with new projects related to the Communications system.
- Ensure logistic support for the communications system is maintained, managing requirements from naval stores and outside contractors.
- Assist in planning the department’s budget and supervise procurement processes.
