Position Details

  • Salary: R391,671 – R418,332 per annum
  • Centre: Fleet Command HQ, Naval Communications Centre CT, Silvermine, Tokai

Key Requirements

To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • A National Diploma in Engineering or a relevant qualification.
  • A minimum of 3 years of post-qualification technical experience.
  • A valid driver’s license and own transport are required.
  • Current Compulsory Registration with ECSA as a Professional Engineering Technician is a statutory requirement.

Essential Skills and Attributes:

  • Ability to work in an underground location with mechanical air and lighting.
  • Willingness to work overtime, including nights and weekends.
  • Ability to fault-find to component level and effect repairs.
  • Strong leadership, supervision, and management skills.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively in English (written and verbal).
  • Proficiency in MS Office packages and ability to write technical reports.
  • Knowledge of legal compliance, financial management, and research and development.
  • Exposure to High Power Transmitters / RF is a distinct advantage.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be entrusted with the following duties:

  • Maintain and repair all communications equipment.
  • Supervise and train technical personnel.
  • Assist with new projects related to the Communications system.
  • Ensure logistic support for the communications system is maintained, managing requirements from naval stores and outside contractors.
  • Assist in planning the department’s budget and supervise procurement processes.
