The South African Navy is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Engineering Technician to join the Fleet Command Headquarters in the beautiful naval port of Simon’s Town. This is a critical role within the Naval Engineering Services division, focusing on Technical Material Specification. Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this position, you must meet the following essential criteria:
- A National Diploma in Engineering or a relevant qualification.
- Six (6) years of post-qualification technical experience.
- A valid driver’s license.
- Compulsory registration with ECSA as a Professional Engineering Technician.
Key Skills and Knowledge Required
The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record in the following areas:
- Proven experience in an Engineering Specification field.
- Knowledge of planning logistic support analysis.
- Knowledge of Specification Practices, Engineering and Support Baselines.
- Proven experience in naval design work and developing logistic support plans.
- Ability to read and understand specifications, technical drawings, and documents.
- Demonstrated proficiency in the MS Office suite.
- Strong interpersonal, leadership, and report-writing skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
- Knowledge of Financial Management, Project Management, and Compliance.
Experience in coordinating and supervising engineering activities of subordinates and contractors will be a distinct advantage.
Key Performance Areas (Duties)
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing a comprehensive Technical Material Specification service.
- Developing and maintaining Technical Material Specification Plans.
- Providing verification services for technical specifications.
- Offering specialist services in the development of Technical Material Specifications.
- Managing Technical Material Specification personnel effectively.
