Who Should Apply? Essential Requirements
To be considered for this prestigious role, you must meet the following criteria:
- A National Diploma in Engineering or a relevant qualification.
- A minimum of 3 years of post-qualification technical experience.
- A valid driver’s license.
- Compulsory registration with ECSA as a Professional Engineering Technician.
- Proven experience in a Constructive/Mechanical engineering field.
Key Skills and Knowledge:
- Proficiency in compiling and presenting technical reports in English.
- Ability to produce original, creative design work.
- Demonstrated skill in MS Office, CAD/Caddie, and other design software.
- Strong planning, organising, and problem-solving skills within an engineering context.
- Ability to read, understand, and draft engineering drawings.
- Knowledge of ship structures, Class/IMO rules, and writing specifications will be a significant advantage.
Your Role and Responsibilities
As a Design Technician, your duties will be vital to the operational readiness of the Navy’s fleet. You will be responsible for:
- Executing system and subsystem advice and defects analysis services.
- Developing integrated concepts and detailed designs.
- Overseeing acceptance and trials services for engineering projects.
- Managing projects and tasks efficiently to meet critical target dates.
