The programme is part of CSA’s Oceans Programme, focused on promoting environmental sustainability and marine-based livelihoods.

Who Should Apply?
This learnership is perfect for you if you meet the following criteria:
- You are a South African citizen aged 18–35 years.
- You are a resident of Port Nolloth and surrounding areas in the Richtersveld Local Municipality.
- You have a minimum qualification of Grade 10, 11, or 12 (Matric).
- You are willing to work outdoors and in physically demanding environments.
- You have a strong interest in marine conservation, sustainability, and community development.
Preferred Skills (Not Required)
- A qualification in marine or environmental studies.
- Experience in fishing or marine-related work.
What Will You Be Doing?
As a learner, your key responsibilities will include:
- Assisting in the daily operations at a local fishing cooperative.
- Engaging in hands-on activities like wild kelp harvesting and line fish processing.
- Participating in data collection and administration to support research.
- Attending training workshops on conservation and fisheries management.
- Learning about cooperative governance, marketing, and financial management.
