The South African Navy is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Auto Electrician Artisan to join its team at the Naval Base in Simon’s Town. Key Requirements
To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- An appropriate Trade Test Certificate as an Auto Electrician.
- A minimum of 5 years of post-qualification experience as an Artisan.
- A valid driver’s license.
- Specialised knowledge in vehicle maintenance processes and procedures.
- Proven diagnostic experience is essential.
- Ability to assess quotations and ensure compliance with the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA).
- Excellent communication skills in English (both written and verbal).
- Strong planning, organising, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Knowledge of legal compliance, technical report writing, and computer-aided technical applications.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for a range of duties, including:
- Obtaining quotations for vehicle services and repairs.
- Managing and monitoring outsourced vehicle maintenance and repairs.
- Ensuring compliance with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) standards.
- Handling the general administration of the electrical workshop.
- Conceptualising innovative approaches to optimise vehicle maintenance and utilisation.
