Who Should Apply? The Requirements

To be considered for this leadership position, you will need to meet the following criteria:

  • An undergraduate qualification (NQF level 6) recognized by SAQA.
  • A qualification in Human Resource Management, Public Management, or Public Administration is a strong advantage.
  • A minimum of five (5) years’ experience, with at least three (3) years at a Lower Management or Supervisory level (Level 7/8) in a related field.
  • A valid driver’s license (with an exception for people with disabilities).

The ideal candidate will possess a strong skill set in Programme & Project Management, Communication, and Client Orientation. Key knowledge areas include:

  • Relevant Government policies and HRD processes.
  • Public Service regulatory frameworks.
  • Report writing, negotiation, and facilitation.
  • Functional computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Your Key Responsibilities

As the Assistant Director, your duties will be central to the success of developmental programmes within the department:

  • Coordinate Implementation: Oversee and coordinate all learnership and internship programmes across the department.
  • Facilitate Mentorship: Identify and support mentors to create a nurturing environment for interns and learners.
  • Drive Professional Development: Facilitate the implementation of the Professional Developmental Programme.
  • Conduct Induction: Lead induction programmes to onboard new interns and learners effectively.
  • Manage Resources: Responsibly manage the allocated resources of the sub-directorate.
