The South African Navy is seeking a skilled and experienced Artisan to join its team at the SA Naval Armament Depot in the historic and strategic location of Simon’s Town. This is a fantastic opportunity for a qualified tradesperson to apply their expertise in a unique and critical defence environment, working on advanced mechanical weapons systems.
Remuneration
A competitive annual salary package between R382,047 – R433,176 is offered, commensurate with the public service remuneration system.

Requirements
To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- An appropriate Trade Test Certificate.
- A minimum of 5 years’ post-qualification experience as an Artisan.
- A valid driver’s license.
- Special Skills: Experience in Mechanical Weapons Systems will be a strong advantage.
Additional Key Competencies:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Strong technical analysis and report writing abilities.
- Proficiency in computer-aided technical applications.
- Knowledge of Legal Compliance, OHAS Act, and safety standards.
- Planning, organising, conflict management, teamwork, and customer focus skills.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be entrusted with the following duties:
- Maintaining and repairing SUT Torpedoes.
- Preparing exercise and combat torpedoes for issue and storage.
- Maintaining torpedo Counter Measure launchers.
- Conducting functional tests on UMKHONTO Missiles and purging pure air systems.
- Ensuring section security and full compliance with the OHAS Act.
