Who Should Apply? Key Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must meet the following essential criteria:
- An appropriate Trade Test Certificate.
- A minimum of 5 years of post-qualification experience as an Artisan.
- A valid driver’s license.
- Previous experience in a painting environment is a distinct advantage.
Required Skills and Knowledge:
The ideal candidate will possess a strong blend of technical and soft skills, including:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Technical report writing ability.
- Knowledge of Health and Safety protocols, specific painting processes, and equipment maintenance.
- Proficiency in operating spray gun machines and using hand tools.
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and team collaboration skills.
- Basic computer literacy and knowledge of legal compliance related to the trade.
- Must be physically fit to perform all painting duties.
Your Key Responsibilities
As an Artisan Painter with the SA Navy, your duties will include:
- Executing all painting and maintenance tasks in strict compliance with the Code of Conduct, Quality Assurance standards, and safety procedures.
- Completing assigned job cards within specified time frames.
- Implementing effective and appropriate repair solutions.
- Being a reliable and proactive team player.
- Assisting with the training of newly appointed staff on equipment and procedures.
