Are you an experienced artisan with proven leadership skills? The South African Navy is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Artisan Foreman to join its team at the Naval Armament Depot in the picturesque Simon’s Town. Key Requirements

To be considered for this prestigious position, candidates must meet the following mandatory requirements:

  • An appropriate Trade Test Certificate.
  • A minimum of 10 years of post-qualification experience as an Artisan or Artisan Foreman.
  • A valid driver’s license.

The ideal candidate will also possess a robust set of skills, including:

  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office (particularly Excel) and computer-aided technical applications.
  • Exceptional communication and technical report writing skills in English.
  • Strong leadership, supervision, and project management abilities.
  • Advanced analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Knowledge of financial management, legal compliance, production processes, and change management.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The successful applicant will be entrusted with a wide range of critical duties, including:

  • Performing administrative duties for the section and supervising subordinate staff.
  • Training team members on updated systems and equipment.
  • Managing quality standards and ensuring adherence to strict safety and security protocols.
  • Assisting with budget preparation and financial requirements.
  • Overseeing environmental services and ensuring legal compliance.

Important Notes for Applicants

  • Applications must be submitted on the newly prescribed Z83 form (effective from 01 January 2021), obtainable from any Public Service department or the DPSA website.
  • The Z83 form must be originally signed, dated, and accompanied by a detailed CV.
  • Only shortlisted candidates will be required to submit certified copies of qualifications (not older than six months) before the interview.

  • Successful candidates will be subjected to thorough verification checks, including criminal record, citizenship, financial/asset record, qualification, and employment verification, as well as a security clearance process.
  • Appointment will be on a probationary period of twelve (12) months.
