Are you an experienced artisan with strong leadership skills? The South African Navy is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Artisan Foreman to join the Facilities Division at the Naval Base in Simon’s Town. Position Details:

  • Salary: R480 261 – R547 635 per annum
  • Centre: Naval Base Simon’s Town: Facilities Division

Key Requirements:

To be considered for this role, you must meet the following criteria:

  • An appropriate Trade Test Certificate.
  • A minimum of 10 years of post-qualification experience as an Artisan or Artisan Foreman.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in a supervisory capacity.
  • Experience in a Metalwork or Plumbing Workshop environment is a distinct advantage.
  • Excellent communication skills in English (both written and verbal).
  • Strong skills in technical report writing, project management, and compiling documentation.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and solve problems effectively.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings.
  • In-depth knowledge of safety standards, legal compliance, and the Public Service Act.
  • Advanced analytical thinking, interpersonal, decision-making, and time management skills.

Key Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Managing a variety of tasks related to the Metalwork/Plumbing Workshop’s workload and staff.
  • Procuring equipment and materials necessary for workshop operations.
  • Supervising, training, and assessing subordinates.
  • Administering and managing all related documentation.
