About the Programme

Transnet seeks to equip young graduates with the hands-on workplace experience and career development needed to thrive. As a Young Professional-in-Training, you will be immersed in a structured environment that blends learning with doing, offering a solid foundation for your future professional journey.

What You Will Do: Position Outputs

Your role will be diverse and engaging, providing a holistic view of the sector. Key responsibilities include:

  • Learning & Development: Shadow experienced staff, participate in workshops, and attend meetings to understand the inner workings of the heritage environment.
  • Project Support: Assist with vital research, administrative tasks, and the delivery of key projects.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a point of contact for both suppliers and internal customers, honing your communication and relationship management skills.
  • Operations: Support procurement and communication processes within the department.
  • Reporting: Provide regular progress updates and address queries efficiently and timeously.

Are You the Right Candidate? Minimum Requirements

This opportunity is perfect for a passionate newcomer to the field. To qualify, you will need:

  • A Degree or National Diploma in one of the following fields:
    • Heritage Studies
    • Fine Art
    • History
    • Curatorship
    • Visual Studies
    • Or another related Humanities discipline
  • 0–1 year of formal work experience.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Preference will be given to South African youth under the age of 35.
