The Centre for Public Service Innovation (CPSI) is seeking a talented and dedicated System Developer to join their dynamic team. About the CPSI

The CPSI is a National Government Component that reports to the Minister for the Public Service and Administration. It plays a leading and catalytic role in Public Service reform and transformation through innovation. Its mission is to entrench a culture of innovation by unearthing existing innovations for learning and replication, providing forward-looking research, and implementing sustainable projects in partnership with various stakeholders.

Requirements: Are You the Right Fit?

To be considered for this role, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Qualifications: A recognized 3-4-year National Diploma or B-Degree in Information Technology, Software Development, Multimedia Development, or a related equivalent to NQF level 6.
  • Experience: A minimum of 3 years’ experience in system development.
  • Technical Knowledge: Sound knowledge of system development and programming, with experience working with:
    • SQL
    • HTML
    • PHP
    • VB, C#, .Net
  • Additional Knowledge: An understanding of the Public Service Policy and Regulatory Framework and other relevant IT regulations.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

As the System Developer, your role will be diverse and impactful, including:

  • Developing both desktop and web-based systems.
  • Managing all system acquisition (both in-house and outsourced) within the Department.
  • Conducting user training and creating comprehensive system documentation.
  • Advising on system development initiatives and providing expert guidance.
  • Performing system administration functions, including updates and security.
  • Administering and coordinating user acceptance testing (UAT) and functional system testing.
  • Analyzing and modeling process and data requirements to create user requirement specifications.
  • Coordinating the compilation of user requirements and analyzing business processes.
  • Developing process diagrams and flowcharts for new systems.
