About the Role
The Department of Employment and Labour is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable individual to join its Limpopo Provincial Office as an Employment Equity Inspector. This critical role involves ensuring that employers comply with employment equity legislation, promoting fair labour practices, and contributing to a more equitable workplace environment across the province.
Requirements
To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:
Educational Qualifications:
- National Diploma in Labour Law (NQF6)
- OR Advanced Labour Law (NQF7)
- OR a Post Graduate qualification in Labour Law (NQF8)
- OR a Law degree (LLB)
- OR a BCOM Law degree.
Experience and Other Requirements:
- One (1) to two (2) years of functional experience in Employment Equity inspections is a significant advantage.
- A valid driver’s license is essential.
Knowledge & Skills:
Knowledge of: Departmental policies and procedures, Basic Conditions of Employment Act (BCEA), Employment Equity Act (EEA), Batho Pele Principles, Compensation for Occupational Injuries & Diseases Act (COIDA), Employment Services Act, Unemployment Insurance Act (UIA), and UI Contributions Act.
Skills Required: Planning and Organizing, Computer literacy, Conflict handling, Problem-solving, Interviewing, Presentation, Analytical, Communication, and Interpersonal skills.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Conducting Employment Equity (EE) procedural inspections and DG reviews to ensure employer compliance with EE legislation.
- Engaging with non-compliant employers to enforce adherence to the law.
- Planning and conducting advocacy campaigns on the Employment Equity Act and analysing their impact.
- Contributing to the planning, drafting, and maintenance of the Provincial inspection schedule.
- Assisting in ensuring that quality inspection files are referred to the Principal Inspector and identifying challenges to advise on solutions.
