A highly skilled and experienced Artisan is sought for a critical role within the Fleet Command’s Technical Upkeep Section. This is a senior position offering a competitive government salary and the chance to play a vital role in maintaining the operational readiness of the SA Navy’s fleet.

Who Should Apply? Essential Requirements
This role is designed for a seasoned professional with a strong technical and managerial background. The ideal candidate will possess:
- An appropriate Trade Test Certificate.
- A minimum of 10 years of post-qualification experience as an Artisan or Artisan Foreman.
- A valid driver’s license.
Critical Skills & Knowledge:
- Project, Supervisor, Contract, and Financial Management.
- Extensive knowledge of Public Service and financial frameworks, including relevant administrative procedures.
- Knowledge of legal compliance, technical report writing, and technical consulting.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Office (Excel and Word).
- Proven advanced communication skills in English (both written and verbal).
- Advanced analytical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong leadership, supervision, interpersonal, and change management skills.
Your Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be entrusted with a range of crucial duties, including:
- Investigating and compiling Statements of Work and Specifications.
- Managing the availability of repairable equipment to SAN repair facilities or contractors.
- Verifying quotations and monitoring repairs.
- Carrying out the acceptance of repaired equipment and ensuring its return to the correct unit or vessel.
- Performing Class management and mechanical equipment management duties for refits, Docking and Essential Defects (DEDs), and Annual Maintenance Periods (AMPs).
- Verifying authority documentation and Armscor Dockyard store requests.
