Who Should Apply? Essential Requirements

This is a senior role requiring a substantial level of experience and a diverse skill set. To be considered, you must meet the following non-negotiable requirements:

  • An appropriate Trade Test Certificate.
  • A minimum of 10 years of post-qualification experience as an Artisan or Artisan Foreman.
  • A valid driver’s license.

Critical Skills and Knowledge:

Beyond the core requirements, the ideal candidate will be proficient in:

  • MS Office packages, particularly advanced Excel.
  • Computer-aided technical applications.
  • Advanced communication and technical report writing in English.
  • Advanced analytical thinking, problem-solving, and research.
  • Leadership, supervision, and people management.
  • Project Management, Financial Management, and Change Management.
  • Technical design, analysis, and production process knowledge.
  • Knowledge of Legal Compliance, planning, and organising.

Your Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be entrusted with a wide range of duties, including:

  • Performing administration and supervisory duties for the section.
  • Training and developing subordinates.
  • Updating and improving systems and equipment.
  • Managing quality, safety, and security standards.
  • Assisting with budget requirements and financial management.
  • Ensuring environmental compliance and services.

Important Application Notes

Failure to follow these instructions will lead to disqualification:

  • You MUST use the new Z83 application form (effective from 01 January 2021), obtainable from any Public Service department or the DPSA website.
  • The Z83 form must be originally signed and dated.
  • Attach a detailed CV with full particulars of your training, qualifications, competencies, knowledge, and experience.
  • Only shortlisted candidates will need to submit certified copies of qualifications (not older than six months) before the interview.

The Selection Process

Please be aware that the process is rigorous:

  • Shortlisted candidates will be subjected to Personnel Suitability Checks (criminal record, citizenship, financial/asset checks, qualification and employment verification).
  • Security clearance processes are mandatory.
  • Shortlisted candidates will undergo two pre-entry assessments (a practical and an ethical exercise).
