Who Should Apply? Essential Requirements

To be considered for this pivotal role, you must meet the following criteria:

  • A National Diploma in Engineering or a relevant qualification.
  • A minimum of 3 years of post-qualification technical experience.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • Compulsory Registration: Current registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) as a Professional Engineering Technician.

Key Skills and Knowledge:

  • Proven experience in a Constructive/Mechanical engineering field.
  • Proficiency in compiling and presenting technical reports in English.
  • Ability to produce original, creative design work.
  • Demonstrated skill in MS Office, CAD/Caddie, and other design software.
  • Strong planning, organising, and problem-solving skills in an engineering environment.
  • Ability to read, understand, and draft Engineering drawings.

Advantageous: Knowledge of ship structures, Class/IMO rules and regulations, and writing specifications/statements of work.

Your Role and Responsibilities

As an Engineering Technician, your duties will be diverse and critical to the fleet’s operational readiness:

  • Execute system advice and defects analysis: Provide technical expertise to identify and resolve engineering issues.
  • Develop integrated concepts and detailed designs: Create innovative and practical engineering solutions.
  • Execute acceptance and trials services: Ensure new systems and modifications meet strict quality and performance standards.
  • Execute project/task management services: Oversee engineering projects from conception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time.
